Harling's Jewellers - Conflict Free
At Harling's we guarantee that 100% of our diamonds are "conflict free."
Conflict Diamonds
Conflict diamonds are diamonds that are illegally traded to fund conflict in war-torn areas, most often in central and western Africa. These diamonds are sometimes referred to a "blood diamonds." In 2000, the international diamond industry joined with the United Nations and a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to create a new system (the Kimberly Process) to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate diamond market. Today, more than 99% of the world's diamonds are now from conflict free sources and are officially traded under the UN mandated Kimberley Process.
Kimberly Process
The Kimberly Process Certification System is the international system and standard for the certification of the source of uncut diamonds to prevent any trade in conflict diamonds. The Kimberly process is certified by the World Diamond Council, the United Nations and top-respected NGOs.
Canadian Diamonds
All Canadian diamonds sold at Harling's are certified by the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct, mined following the highest environmental standards in the world and meet all the requirements of the Kimberly Process.
